The members of the Pro Patria and Res Publica Union (IRL) re-elected Mart Laar as party chairman at the congress held in Tallinn on Sunday, 31 January. The speaker of the parliament Ene Ergma, Minister of Economic Affairs and Communication Juhan Parts and Minister of Education and Research Tõnis Lukas were elected vice-chairmen.
Former Prime Minister and current leader of IRL's parliamentary group Mart Laar gained 1760 votes; Juhan Parts 1248, Ene Ergma 1180 and Tõnis Lukas 594 votes.
Out of 32 candidates 20 were elected to the party board: Marko Mihkelson, Tõnis Palts, Siim Kiisler, Ken-Marti Vaher, Sven Sester, Urmas Reinsalu, Priit Sibul, Madis Kübar, Siim Kabrits, Indrek Raudne, Tiit Leier, Tunne Kelam, Erki Nool, Peeter Tulviste, Andres Herkel, Helir-Valdor Seeder, Mart Nutt, Lauri Vahtre, Tarmo Kruusimäe and Liisa Pakosta.
The congress also elected five-member audit committee, as well as nine-member court of honour.
IRL has 9537 members. The congress had 2039 participants.
